north west action learning for women = the story so far...

At a North West Higher Education Staff Developers Network meeting in June 2015, there was a discussion about the increased interest in Action Learning as a developmental intervention. Some of those present felt that the Aurora Programme being delivered by the Leadership Foundation was contributing to this interest. It was felt that feedback from women who have participated in Aurora have on the whole valued mutual problem solving with women from other universities.

Representatives from 8 universities: UCLAN, Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores, Manchester, Cumbria, Lancaster, Chester and Huddersfield, decided to work together to provide further support to women from their respective universities who wanted to participate in action learning.

Following this meeting, a web site was created to support this initiative: http://actionlearn.weeby.com. The purpose of the website was to raise awareness of the initiative and provide a way for those interested to sign up.

At this meeting, the project group discussed the action learning method that would be used for this initiative. It was decided to use the Post It Action Learning Method put forward by Martin Plant, Huddersfield.

September 2015

We now have 40 women from across North West Universities signed up to participate at 4 action learning meetings: October 2015, January 2016, April 2016 and June 2016.
